This 1,708-square-mile EMU includes the Crazy Mountain Range and adjacent foothill and prairie habitats in south central Montana. This EMU contains over 590,000 acres of occupied elk habitat (54% of EMU).

That portion of Hunting District 580 lying between Big Timber Creek and the West Fork of Duck Creek. Beginning at the point where Big Timber Creek crosses US Highway 191, then up said creek its headwaters and the Crazy Mountain divide above Twin Lakes, then southerly along the Crazy Mountain divide to the headwaters of the West Fork of Duck Creek, then southerly and easterly down said creek to its junction with the East Fork of Duck Creek, then southerly and easterly down Duck Creek to the north bank of the Yellowstone River, then westerly along the north bank of the Yellowstone River to US Highway 191, then north up said highway to where it crosses Big Timber Creek, the point of beginning.
